Welcome

Landen has been (and is) such a priceless and eternal blessing to our family since his arrival. As you can tell, he's absolutely adorable and happy. We simply can't get enough of him!
As of August of 2013 we added another addition to our family, Brigit Nicole. She is missing part of her 3rd chromosome. We are still learning every day new things about her disability. We have a total of 4 kids and couldn't be happier!

The purpose of our site is to reach out to others who have Angels with Spina Bifida (or other special needs) for a supportive bond.

"You are chosen"

Thursday, June 6th, we were traveling to Myrtle Beach SC for Zach's travel baseball team. He had tournaments scheduled all weekend and we wanted to get a jump on a mini vacation before the games begun. We were about 30 minutes out from where we were staying. My phone rang (I was driving b/c I don't like my husband driving my van :) )  Quickly looked at the number and answered. "Hello?" "Hi Tosh, this is Eileen (Social worker from boys and girls aid) You are chosen!!!!"  Me: "They said yes?"  Eileen: "They said yes...congratualtions you are the parents of 18 mos old Brigit."  Imagine the excitement we all felt hearing those words. We were so excited both Ron and I were on our phones calling our parents, texting our friends (not while driving I assure you). What a way to start a mini vacation.

A little bit about our 2nd adoption:  Well technically we haven't adopted Brigit yet but we will very very soon (not quickly enough though...we want to do it TODAY) =)
After we adopted our son, Landen, we knew that we wanted 1 more child. When we looked at our family photos or when we are piling in the mini van to go somewhere, it was like 1 head was missing. So, almost 2 yrs after Landen's adoption, we decided that we simply couldn't afford another private adoption but knew there were several children in the DSS system that needed loving families. We had plenty of love to give a child!! We then started the adoption process through our local DSS, paper work, background checks, finger prints, sled check, dr's appts, financials, 16-20 hr trainings, etc etc.We submitted for several kids, and when I mean several... I mean like 50+. We did receive a few calls on some of the children that we were potentially matched with but after getting all their information, decided they would not be right for our growing family. I got a call on Brigit (18 mos old beautiful girl), talked to the foster mom, decided she would be perfect for our family. Oregon chose 3 families that were a good match and we were one of them. We had a 2.5 hr interview on the phone with the social worker from boys and girls aid, submitted a family book, and sent a few other items to sweet Brigit. They then held an adoption committee and we were represented by boys and girls aid since we don't just live a hop and skip away. The other 2 families were represented by their social worker, In the end....WE WERE CHOSEN!!!! =)   Happy Happy Happy!!!!

Now we are just waiting to find out when we can get our travel plans ready and go get our sweet girl from Oregon.
She has Chromosome #3 depletion, SPD (sensory processing disorder), and Tracheomalacia. What a special girl she is! We simply can't wait for our family to be together!

Take a look at our sweet girl...ADORABLE I know! =)

Landen is going to be an AWESOME big brother!
