Welcome

Landen has been (and is) such a priceless and eternal blessing to our family since his arrival. As you can tell, he's absolutely adorable and happy. We simply can't get enough of him!
As of August of 2013 we added another addition to our family, Brigit Nicole. She is missing part of her 3rd chromosome. We are still learning every day new things about her disability. We have a total of 4 kids and couldn't be happier!

The purpose of our site is to reach out to others who have Angels with Spina Bifida (or other special needs) for a supportive bond.

9 months

Last week we had Landen's 9 mos check up with his Pediatrician, Dr Cook. He is impressed by all the wonderful things Landen has learned since his last visit. (Our baby is wayyyyyyyy smart! =)

As soon as Dr Cook came into the room, Landen gave him a big wave and pretty much leaped into his arms. Dr Cook loved on him a little bit before Landen tried to yank his glasses off his head. =)
Landen is now 17lbs 9.5oz. He's still a little under weight and shorter than most babies his age. I'm ok with that!
Nothing really new with Landen. He's still saying momma, dadda, bubba,ba ba and bye. He waves bye bye, which is so cute I must say. No new words yet but he has learned to literally scream....not a cry....a scream when ANYONE is talking and NOT looking at him or talking to him, he SCREAMS as loud as he can until you look at him....then he smiles! =) Ron thinks it is cute but I don't think so especially when we are out in public. He does it in the car when it's just me and him. A few days ago while driving to the Dr's appt I was talking to him but obviously not looking at him behind me, and he just starts yelling UNTIL I pull my visor down, open the mirror part, and LOOK at him while I was driving...he just smiled and laughed.

Way back when...I don't know, several months ago I heard a statistic that minivans were the automobiles that were most involved in car accidents. huh? Not some red sports car, or the BMW with a business lady driving while talking on her cell phone or texting...nope, a minivan driven mom! So, I'd like to broaden that category of "the car involved in most accidents" to be "any car driven by a mom"!!!
In my defense, as well as to all those other moms out there doing this...I'm a pretty good knee driver. And I suppose that driving while my hands are placed on the 10 and 2 o'clock positions just might be the smarter way to drive, but really? If I didn't look back or hand the kids something or reach back to the back to pick up a dropped toy or blanket, or pick up dropped food (you get the point)I might begin to wonder what might be more dangerous...me loosing my grip on the steering wheel, or me loosing my grip on my sanity??
So, to all those moms out there,mini-van driven or not..handing back bottles, paci's,wiping noses, dancing, yelling, picking up toys, refereeing fights, handing out snacks, or like me...just talking and looking at your little angel in the mirror....do your best to survive...with your sanity and your life! DRIVE SAFELY!!!(Also, I am FULLY aware of the importance of driving safely and paying full attention to the road)I'm doing the best I can!

HEALTH UPDATE...
Landen has an appointment Wed at Shriners for the Myelo clinic(Spina Bifida Clinic)which at that time he will see all his specialist. Hopefully Dr Troup will decline the need for an MRI, his Urologist(Dr Teague) will FINALLY decide to schedule his circumcision, and his Ortho will fit him for his AFO's. Landen's right leg is shorter than his left so he needs a lift on his right shoe as well. I'm not sure if Shriners will do that for us or if we need to take his shoes to a shoe store that does that sort of thing...I guess we'll find out on Wed.
He should be getting his stander within the next couple of weeks and we are really excited about that. We will post pictures of our handsome boy standing as soon as we get the stander.
Friday Landen started showing signs of a cold and last night his symptoms got worse. His (R) eye is beginning to ooze(yes, I know that's a gross word)greenish drainage, he is choking on nasal drainage, if you put your hand on his back, you can feel a rattle, throwing up after atleast every few ounces of milk, low grade temperature and just clingy..poor, sweet baby. I was going to try and hold off seeing his pediatrician and wait until we go to Shriners(just because I am more comfortable with the Dr's at Shriners treating him and prescribing medicines, but not sure if we can do that.) He's already on a twice a day dose of antibiotics for his bladder, infant tylenol for fever, benadryl for sneezes and coughs, and he's also doing neb treatments so I am not sure what else they could do for him. I hate seeing my sweet boy sick but LOVE the clingy, I just wanna lay on you time with him!! I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ( did I say soooooooooooooooooooooooooo) thankful that I get to be a stay at home mom. NO amt of money could get me to go back to work and leave my sweet baby. I do miss taking care of my patients, I miss giving shots( go figure)and doing x-rays but being a stay at home mommy is PRICELESS and wouldn't go back to the days "before Landen" if you paid me!!!!!!!!!

That's all for today...will update Wed after his appointment.

Have a blessed week!
